C22 Keel Restoration - Part 3

Finally got the keel installed. Been about a year since I posted Parts 1 and 2. As those of you know that have done it, it's not something you want to do that often, if ever again :)

In Parts 1 and 2 I showed a design for what I'll call 'Keel Stabilizers'. Basically made a skid plate on both sides of keel and used some plumbing parts to form the stabilizers.

The later model C22s had such a stabilizer, but only on the port side. It was made from a galvanized plumbing flange with a pipe nipple and end cap. The nipple had a nylon rod inserted which pressed against the keel.

Here's the one I pulled from my 1980

I wanted to build something along the same design, but more robust. The parts are stainless steel and I installed with some tension on both sides. Honestly, I don't know how much it will really help. I suppose with an extremely worn keel pin it might help to stabilize the keel some. Would be interested in hearing comments.
