Tongue weight

Post by mariner »

I'm considering buying a compact tractor this spring and of course I. Thinking about using the three point cat 1 to attach a trail or hitch. Which brings me to the question of how much is the tongue weight of a c22 on the original trailer ? I would hate to set everything up and the have the boat drop and the sub compact tractor up in the air! If anyone has worked witha set up like this please let me know, photos too ! Thanks

The rule of thumb is 10-15% of trailer weight on the tongue. I believe a C22 and trailer is around 5000 pounds, so that would put tongue weight in the 500-750 range.

I agree with the rule of thumb is 10-15% of trailer weight on the tongue.
But to be honest, (at least in my case) the C22 sitting flat on it's stock trailer bunks would be hard pressed to to get to the 500-750lbs tongue weight.

Not to hi-jack this string, but it would be interesting to know what other c22/trailers owners have for tongue weight.

I have a old JD 400 compact tractor with 3 point that works OK for moving trailers around, but I don't have 500 lbs of tongue weight.
