The motor mount on my C26 is in bad shape and has been patched up by the previous owner, I would like to replace it or rebuild it. I don't think my local marine store can help me. Is anyone out there building these or are there plans available.

P.S. Sailboats are just plain fun, and sailing them, even better.

I needed to modify mine to clear a big modern four stroke motor, but this might work for you as well. If you need dimensions I think I still have them. You just need access to stainless steel or aluminum (mine is SS) and a sheet metal brake.

That's a very common problem with the C26, that and the soft bit of sole right at the foot of the stairs....

I went with powdercoated aluminum and about 20 bolts with 4200... needless to say the thing is pretty much bomb-proof. I think my buddy who welded it together still has the plans and could make you one. Let me know and I can put you in touch with him.

I just had one finished by a local shop. Kicked out an additional 12in and has less angle that the OEM version. I did this to accomidate a Honda 4 stroke motor. Now I can tilt the motor up and out of the water easily.

Here is a rough sketch of my mount solution. I sandwiched the motor mounting area with 1/2" mahogany. My particular motor has an appendage that required some cutting away of the old mounting surface as well. Unfortunately I didn't realize that until after I had the motor on, which made it harder to do.

Thanks! My name is Hunter, the boat is the Alexis Ann. This is my first sailboat. In the process of redoing just about everything. Picked it up from a guy in Nashville last year. It is a 1977 swing keel C26.

Replaced the electrical, motor, transome, starting the carpet. Updated all the lights to LED's, new bottom paint and stripes, refinished exterior woodwork and still working on polishing window frames and replacing lexan. Im sure the windows leaking is a common problem amonst most older boat owners.
