Engine woes...chrysler sailor 250

Post by mrichey »

Engine started fine this morning. Took her out on the lake and sailed for a few hours. Went to come back in and she started but wouldn't stay running. Full throttle out of gear would run for 1 minute then die. Finally kept her running enough to get back in by pumping the gas bulb every time she started to die. Any ideas on what's wrong?

Agree with monty; the part about squeezing the bulb indicates that because you in effect were being the pump- the Sailors 2xx's have a diaphragm pump, and that gets either split, brittle, or pooched out with age, especially if you've used ethanol fuel. Could be yours is split and you could squeeze fuel thru it with the bulb. Been there and done this - twice !

Check with Franz at Franz Marine for that part, and have your model (not '250', the actual model number) and serial number handy
