HITCH COVERS!! What have you and where did you get it??

Post by CaptainScott »

Yeah I know, bordering on geeky . . .
But I'd like a nice sailing related hitch cover on my truck.

I've seen the props but they lean towards power boats to me.
Heck, I've even seen the props with lighted hub covers! Kewl but again, kinda power boaty to me.

Anyone??
What have you and where's the photos??

:)

Thanks for any ideas!

I saw a mountain bike silhouette that appeared to be cut out with a laser. (I'm a bicyclist too) That got me thinking about the possibilities. We have some awesome laser cutters where I work.

I just need to come up with the right design.

LOL!
Good ones EE!! You know me well!

However I went to order this one:
http://artflowdesigns.com/catalog/sailb ... -1461.html
but the site is not secure so I put bogus info in and complained in the comments. No way I'll provide private info on a none secure site.

The one I'm looking at now is here:
http://www.customhitchcovers.com/Produc ... Code=12591

I'm thinking I may have vynal lettering with my website on it and putting it in the rear window of my PU. 1-2 inch high at the base of the window and then bracketing it with vynal stickies of my penant. Not big. See-able but small and low key. One of these hitch covers would go with the very low key theme! LOL!

Ideas anyone?? :)

Hey Scott, I thought you said you couldn't remove the hitch from the receiver. You'll need to cut that lock off if you want one of those.

It has been done already!
The receiver now comes off! Unfortuantely the lock is no longer functional! LOL!

I had a neighber who said he could have it off in 5 minutes! I laughed challenged him and then ate humble pie! I believe it was more like 3 and a half minutes!!!

Heh heh! Excellent memory!
I did not realize you guys actually read what I type!

Get a rubber ducky and cut the bottom out.
Maybe a rubber sailboat.
Set a new trend.
Geeky - no way.

It's scary how fast a determined man with tools can defeat any locking scheme. I recently saw a video where someone was "stealing" his own bike, in public places.

He used bolt cutters, hack saw, sledge hammer and angle grinder. At least once in plain view of NYC police. No one ever bothered him, except for one cab driver who suggested an easier way to do it.

Actually, I like that idea.
I'm going to get a rubber ducky as described and put it on my daughters truck! See how long it takes her to notice! I'll take pictures when I do!!

You could mount the duck or sailboat on a spring like a bobble head, so they would be "sailing, sailing over the shining sea"
After all the props spin.
May need to reassess the geek factor
