Mast Gate?

Post by Zilbub »

On my C-22 mast, there is an opening where you feed in the sail clips but if I drop the sail and don't have a "stop" tightened above the opening, the sail clips all fall out. Is there supposed to be a mast gate so the clips can go clear to the boom without falling out of the slot?

Mine has one. Of course just using the stop will work as well.

Suggestion for mast gate

Post by Trey »

My C22 has stops for the boom's gooseneck and for the mainsail.

I would think that a small sized bolt with a slightly bent washer (to mimic the curvature of the groove the sail slides up into) on the inside with a couple of washers (also slightly bent) with either a wingnut or regular nut would serve as a decent stop.

Of course, they would have to be stainless steel.

Good luck.
