LS-16 BILDGE BOARDS AND FLOOR REPAIR

Post by TONY C »

HI, I AM NEW HERE, THIS IS MY FIRST POST. JUST PICKED UP A LS-16 (1970 I THINK)I AM GOING TO REPLACE THE FLOOR AND SOME OTHER MINOR REPAIRS AND PAINT.THE BOAT IS MISSING THE BILDGE BOARDS AND THE LEVERS THAT CONTROL THEM. ANYONE KNOW A SOURCE FOR REPLACEMENTS. ALSO WOULD A SET FROM A LS-13 WORK? ANY ADVISE ON RIPPING UP THE FLOOR WOULD BE GREAT. I AM THINKING OF DREMMELING THE OUTSIDE EDGE OF THE PLYWOOD TO BREAK THE GLASS THEN TRY TO PRY IT UP.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP

TONY

I Can Help You

Post by mikepaddle »

Tony,

I went through what you are about to do about four years ago. and will be more than happy to share my gained knowledge and a few photos too. It was truly a "do-it-yourself" project as there are no parts available and very few poeple with LS-16 construction experience are still around.

I need to leave for work but would like to communicate with you this weekend. Please send me your email address via PM so that I can send photos.

Best to you,

Mike

some input

I have two LS13's. The lever set up might be sim., but dont know if the bilge boards are larger for a 16 - found this boat on CL

http://jackson.craigslist.org/boa/2301080618.html

you might be able to get them to part out the lever set and bilge boards...dont know if they are a direct replacement....otherwise just looking at mire when I was refurbishing them - as mike paddle suggests - all common aluminum pieces - with some effort you could make your own.
