Slip prices?

Post by LeatherneckPA »

I'm considering putting Believer in a slip at a local state park next summer. The fee, for May 15th to October 31st is $550. Is that comparable to what you folks are paying? Especially skyking, since you're in PA?

This would be for Iowa, but Lake Red Rock, which is a reservoir has a the following fee (April 15-Oct 15) :
Slip up to 24' ---- $1590.00
Buoy up to 29' ---- $690.00
Dry Dock up to 24' ---- $310.00

$550.00 sounds like a great deal to me. We dry dock for the $310, works quite well for us.

This thread is making me feel better as in Catskill creek we have reasonable prices for our moorings with a downfall it is first come free but you have to maintain and own your own tackle and dinghy's must be taken or pay dock space for it 200 per year and the bottom is hard pan so dead weight moorings are used as mushrooms can not dig in.

South central Wi is 695.00 and up for a moooring with dinghy storage. wait times can be several years for a ball as new renters are selected by yearly lottery. Once you're in, though, you get first dibs on "your" mooring for life. Slips with were over 1300.00 but don't have the wait time. Lake Michigan I believe is 2400.00 or so for a year round slip and on site winter storage for a 29 footer.

When I had my boat at the marina in Everett I paid $170 a month for my 22 footer.

The boat was stored on the hard on it's own boat stand. I would call the marina while driving to the marina and they would pick it up and launch it with a big forklift. The boat would be tied at the dock waiting for me when I pulled up. I would tie it to the dock when I got back from sailing and then they would put it away for me. No extra charge for launching and recovery. The boat had power and water at no extra charge.

Thanks
Alan

Here in Central Ohio we pay $500 for the year at a good size lake. We had to pay 3 yrs in advance to get this price. One season only is around 600-700

On the St croix I'm paying $1200 a year for dry dock. This includes secured designated parking spot and one of the best boat launch ramps in the area. Unlimited launches for members, launch fee for non-members is $25  Launching is self service, but during the summer they do have dock hands to help direct dock and ramp traffic. The marina also has trucks that you can use if you don't have a tow vehicle for a additional $200 a year.
The nicer full service marinas in the area will sell you a slip for $60,000 to $80,000 depending on the size you desire. Then much like a condo you also have assoication and haul-out fees. That's a lot to pay for a hole in a dock!
But with our proximiity to the Twin Cities the market will support it
I have talked to marinas at the boat show in the Apostle Islands that charge half if what I pay for dry dock, for a slip. But a 4 hour drive one way just does not work for the spare of the moment day sail.

Hey CPT Bondo, Check out the marina at Port Wing, WI. I'm one of only two sailboats there. It's about 40 min east of Duluth. It's kinda rustic but they have electricity and a bath house. 15 miles further down the road in cornacopia they have a bigger sailboat population and a full service marina at much higher rates. I'm not sure what the set rates are at port wing. I said I would like to keep my boat there for a few months and the lady said "how's 100.00 bucks sound".

That's why they call it Niceville. I've spent a lot of time down that way at Ranger camp on Eglins property.

My slip in Racine, WI is just under $1600 for the season. They tend to be less if you go up the river, or higher if you go towards Chicago or Milwaukee.

They've expanded the camp into a full up base, and moved in about 2000 rangers.
