This could be a little tight getting down the ramp........

Stepping the mast might be a little tricky as well.......

Yeah, but you'd amazed at what you see on the highway. I was on my to the penitentiary, down US15, when I saw a hull coming off of I-80, right there at Exit 210. I mean to tell you, we are right smack dab in the middle of Pennsylvania. Well this behemoth comes off the ramp and I did the only thing a reasonable sail junkie would do, I sped up to get along side of it and get a better look. It was really cool because the keel was totally encased in shrink wrap, obliterating any detail. But the coolest part was when I got up there and got a good look at the side of her. It was America 3!! I'll remember that forever! I've never figured out what she was doing there though.hp18carr wrote:A hull of that size would best be launched from a ship yard.

That is the main hull of the Banque Populaire V trimaran. She's 40 meters long and holds the current Trans-Atlantic record at 3 days, 15 hours, 25 minutes, 48 seconds. That's an average speed of 32.94 knots. She holds a few other records too.Capt. Bondo wrote:What is that hull for?

LeatherneckPA you had me running down stairs to check my photo's. Nope it was not America 3 I sailed in Maui back in 2009. I got to sail the America 2 with the other tourists for a few hours. I got to raise the main and I got to helm for about 10 min. all for about $150. It was a blast.LeatherneckPA wrote:hp18carr wrote:the coolest part was when I got up there and got a good look at the side of her. It was America 3!! I'll remember that forever!
