Removed the Tuck-'n-Roll

Post by bearley »

Hi All,

After removing the white, vertical tuck&rolled vinyl wall-covering in the forward berth, there is a blue vinyl paper that is stuck real well on the fiberglass. If you try to peel it off, you get a tiny sliver of a piece in your hand and that's it! Before I put new covering on the walls, I want to get this stuff off. Anybody ever run into this and find a solution? Thanks.

Sorry to say that all I could come up with is a putty knife and elbow grease.

I did not need to remove the above in my 1980 C26, just a number of old layers of paint. Just a thought on the matter... there are a number of wallpaper remover chemicals out there perhaps one could help move things along for you.

I used a stiff wire brush and that "safe" paint remover. Make certain you rinse the area with water to remove the residue. It took some effort but I was able to remove the plastic and the adhesive.
