Opinions on suitability of this motor?

Post by Whabadoo »

Found this motor on CL. Already have a Sailor 250 on hand but not a proven performer as I have not even tried to run it and it's condition is unknown.

Thought this would be a good backup to have around and I can use it until I get the Sailor running.

That should push you along just fine.
I'd ask the seller to make it run before I bought it though!

Great Idea Scott. I'll bring along a barrel and gas :)

Thanks for the Reply

I originally had a 4.5 Merc on EE. It moved her, but don't be in a hurry to get there..

As a backup, certainly worthwhile ! And as a primary for now, been there done that myself !

Not a bad price, an it has the same gas line as your 10 hp. But it is not an Elec. Start. you will find it hard to start, shift an operate on a C-26. I would stick with the 10 HP. That part that is missing it is black 1 inch by 1 inch part no. 617450 ( CODI ) my have just come loos an drop lower in the outboard, it is only held in place by one small bolt. On my 10 hp the bolt is loos an about to fall out. Do Try The 10 HP it will do the job.

if memory serves me right, and god knows it doesn't always, Chrysler outboards were marketed under the 'Force' name after the dissolution of Chrysler Marine. Any comments?

West Bend became Chrysler. Chrysler became Force I think.
