Me and the Chicago-Mackinac Race

Post by tgentry »

Ok, I wasn't really in the race, but, I was briefly sailing among the fleet. After dropping my daughter off to catch the train in Kenosha we saw the fleet out on the lake and decided we could back to Racine in time to intercept them.

We intercepted a couple miles off Wind Point. We were careful not to cause any course or speed changes in the racers, and got a really nice look at a few of them. Kristi said she's never seen so many sailboats before.

I want to do that race next year..

while that race was going on I was doing the Lake Ontario 300. another long distance race. It was LONG, very light winds. It normally takes the boat I was on 50-54 hours.........this year........ 77 hours 9 mins. We came in second in our fleet!!!

There was a kid on board (20 years old) that did the "little Mac" double handed with his dad a few years ago and said it was amazing!!! So I hope to be in that race next year

Anyone need crew? :) or for another long distance race look me up.
