Jib/Genoa tack...

Post by astrorad »

I suppose I should have posted this in rigging tips...but this gets more traffic...What does everyone use to attach their jib/genoa tack to the stemhead fitting? Looking for advice here...no furler.

I use a small block on the fitting.
Then I tie a line to the tack, run it down through the block and then back to the for deck cleat. Simple, easy and adjustable.

If I really want to, I can use a longer line and run it aft allowing me to raise and lower the tack form the cockpit.

I'm lazy and choose not to for now! LOL!

Momma always said, "If you don't have something nice to say..."

I chose to slightly modify that with "If you don't have something smart to say..."

Tack

I have always used a shackle for this, but believe I will use Capt. Scott's method from now on. Sounds like a better idea to me.

I use one of these at the tack and another at the head. I also have a short line that I keep on the tack of each sail because I like them better about 9" off the deck.
