Signet Instruments

As I'm restoring my C26 I've been thinking for a while about what to do with my existing instruments. Do I replace them or repair them? I have a knot meter and depth meter installed but are a bit old and the display seems to be gone. I've done some research and have found that these instruments are very expensive to replace. I've thought of replacing it with something like Raymarine, which I've had good luck with, but my problems is what to do with the space made for the other instruments.
Has anybody used Signet instruments and are they worth repairing? At what point are they not worth repairing? I'd just like to repair them since then I wouldn't have to bother with configuring the space, but I'm wondering if its worth it.
I can send photos if needed. THANKS!
Stephen

Yeah, that's a good reference. The used ones are $180 but I wonder if buying a new depth sounder from Hawkeye would be better? They come with a sensor too at a little bit less cost. I don't know that much about quality/accuracy of signet and just wonder if they are worth the cost or if getting something new for the same price is the better route. I have had some similar to the hawkeye from Norcross Marine and it has lasted over 10 years so far.
I just want to be sure before transforming the cockpit.

Great link and info..
At the cost of a Signet replacement tho, I would start fresh with more up to date equipment. But if you bought the Signet Depth Meter I'd think you'd want the transducer too.

Knot meters being a mechanical device, a GPS is probably a better choice as well.

The two of them are about $360, and I bought a Garmin GPS/Chartplotter/Depth combo for $450 recently (Garmin 54DV)

Well,
I might as well jump in too.

I had similar concerns on "Lady Jo" our C22.

However I went a totally different route.
I purchased a hummingbird fish finder from West Marine for under 100 bucks.
Put a swing mount on the display so I could swing it out when sailing or desired need, and swing back when put away. Depth issue resolved.

For a knot meter: I purchased a hand held anemometer that took no batteries. I love this one!

For a knot meter, I used my trusty Garmin GPS.

I understand these do not answer any of your questions, just sharing another way to get instruments that are functional and very cost effective!
