Installed Keel, Made a Boom, almost ready to launch update

Just an update: Bought my Chrysler 22 on Nov 18, 2009. After alot of work,(still have alot to do), I may have my first launch this saturday.

finished putting in the Keel in this past saturday, it took Two 4X4's, 8 cinder blocks, one floor jack, 3 bottle jacks & 1 scissor jack. Two Scared men...and 6 hours to muscle it in.

built a boom: used 1.5 inch cedar, 7+ feet long, first i used it as a loose footed sail, but it did not look right or work right. so i used my router and table to cut a 1/2 inch bead down the center, then used a dove tail bit, and fit it up the bead and routed a nice grove right down the center. the sail slides beautiful down the grove and not does not come out. looks good also.

Paint??? i started painting the transom with bottom paint, realized it is not shiny, so i removed it. then repainted it. not sure how to make that bottom paint look shiny. is there a wax to make it that way?

once painted i will add pictures. ( i did not take pictures of the keel install, because i would not recommend to anyone to do it the way we did it)

I probably will launch near the 1-92 Bridge on the indian river (Front Street).

I have to replace all the wood and carpet on my trailer. so i may have to kill two birds with one stone.

One thing stops me......the Keel pin is not where i want it to be, may have to remove one more time and re - install it.

Launched the sailboat this morning. Keel pin leaked..badly. Had to pull the boat out and worked on it at Daves shop. Fixed it, then launched at Ballard park. Broke the boom, rudder did not work right, had trouble with the motor, got blown onto a sandbar, got hung up on some crab traps, that we had to free ourselves fr...om, trailer plank broke while putting boat back on trailer. other then that...day was perfect.

I used to live across from ballard park, was it a good place to launch? You hung in there better than I would have.
