C22 trailer question.

Post by Jmckamey »

Got a Q for you C22 on the trailer types out there. I'm in the process of custom fitting my previous power boat trailer and I seem to be higher off the ground than I would like. I transfered the axle to the top of the leaf springs and the trailer has 12" wheels. (4 each). Looks like The transom will be right at 36" off the ground. I would like to know what other boats measure from the ground to the botton of the transom at the center line. The keel is resting on the trailer cross member and is 16" off the ground. These measurements are with trailer unloaded, so I would assume everything will drop a couple inches once the boat weight is applied. Thanks for your input. Jeff

I can measure Lady Jo for you when I get home tonight.
I was going to take photos for another member anyway last night but it was Pouring rain heavily until well after dark. So I'll be out there.

Here is a couple pics of Happy Place on her stock trailer.
She sits pretty high, almost 6" to the toerail when on the trailer.

Note how the cross member on the factory trailer is lowered for the keel.
Stock trailer also has the axel mounted on the top of the springs, but the springs are quite stiff since there is little hight difference between the trailer loaded and unloaded.

You can go to a Zen Master or you can go Sailing, either way you end up in about the same place..... a Happy Place

Thanks Cptn B. Looks good. I thought I could cut away/modify My cross member under the Keel to drop the boat a little deeper in the trailer as well. This trailer has four cross members. I also have a very high arched leaf spings. Could loose a few inches with a different leaf too. As she sits now, the toe rail at midship is about eye level. I may not be that far off. Jeff
