Excellent Pictures!!
I sailed last week (July 4th week off work). Great time was had by all. A few minor items popped up that need attention, but nothing major until Sunday on the way back up the Mobile Bay from a week on the Gulf.
It really started blowing on Saturday and was still building on Sunday to around 30. Just a few miles away from our destination the mail sail blew apart!
I took it to the sailmaker today to see if there was any more life in her.
We'll see.
Later.

Wow, that sucks! I guess there's something going on in the air. Everyway I turn around, I read about sailors with sails problems. When I was sailing that weekend, one leg of the trip was with the wind behind me. Well, the sail wrapped around the spreader, went past the little wheel, and got cought in one of the clips. Now I have a rip in the sail. These past two days I went thru the sail, and I found a bunch of ripped twine in some of the seams, and a busted hank. I've got me today a good used sewing machine. The plan its to repass all the sewing in the sail to get a little more life out of it, but a new mainsail its in the works for this winter. Sailrite sells the kit for a new main for less than 500 bucks.
Gus
p/s Also, in contrary of common sense and good seamanship, I went out the protected waters without a reefed main. Well, it was blowing, and one of the battens just flew off the pocket!

I don't know for you but the wind is stange this year , here in Canada I can sail in a 10 knot wind and in a second the wind turn and raise to 20 to 25 knots ! sometime its hard on the sail and when we have wind the sky is clouday and its rain and when we have the sun ...no wind ...
Thanks for yhe info Gus , now I know where is Neuse Rivers
