Whisker poll mount

Post by Capt. Bondo »

Just picked up a used whisker poll. How far up the mast do I mount the eye?

The front of my mast has a track with an adjustable car. The eye should be adjusted to make the pole level with the set of the jib, is my understanding.

That is correct the pole should be as close to level as possible.

Paul and Lyle are correct as usual. The only advice I have is install a topping lift. I've seen too many ambulances waiting by the dock after a regattas because of poles. Spin. Or wisk. Lots of chunks out of decks too.
