High winds blew apart the Lollipop's tarp frame for the second time. Luckily, I finally found some free indoor barn space about 30 miles away (Thanks again Uncle Joe!). I'm really quite sad to see her go so far away. It sounds strange (no, actually, it is!), but I took some comfort in just being able to walk outside and look at her. Even when she went to the sister-in-laws place, I could see her from the road and check to see if she was still happy once in a while. Heck, I'd rather board my dogs over the winter than my sailboat.... (no really, I would!). Alas, 'tis for her own good. Here's a pic of her looking sadly back at me as we pulled away from the barn.

So now you need to think up projects that you want to do to the boat during the off season. Part of the said projects will involve taking measurments to make sure the design is correct... and don't forget to measure twice cut once, that way she will get twice the love

Bruce...I understand how you feel...I get immense joy everyday when I come home from work and see my C22 sitting there in the driveway...Perhaps next season you will be able to get a setup that won't fail you.

Mine is simple but does require dropping the stanchions, pulpit and pushpit.

The key if you're storing your boat away from home (as we are too), is to keep enough parts of your boat at home to feel the love. We've got all the wood, cushions, table, and rudder that welcome me home each day when I pull my car in the garage. Of course we also have the little Hobie Hawk 9' sailboat below (gotta teach those kids young, that's my 9yr old)that hangs from the ceiling in garage directly above my car, that helps during the winter months also.

Good point,
I forget, I still have the Sunfish sail hanging from the rafters in the garage, and the centerboard and tiller/rudder on the rack with the snowskis.
When we get snow everything will get some love

Yes, yes. I have the tiller handle and boom hanging in the basement. Criminy sakes, I even half toyed with the idea of making a couple of simple benches to put the cockpit cushions on. I really do have to stop myself.

Btw, a very nice pic of your daughter sailing the Hobie JB. She looks like she has potential Chrysler Sailor qualities. Who knows, there may be a few of these boats still around 35 years from now

Oh, James, that is just 'cold' lol..

I wanted to get a sail in yesterday with winds at 8-10 and a high of 70 (and zero thunderstorm threat) - but wound up in the stern berth of the project boat pressure washer in hand..
maybe Saturday..
