When Yachtsmen Go To Sea Without a Thought of Their Return..

This is some real butt clenching boatin' ! Ok, I saw this vid posted on one of those other forums, but had to repost here just in case anyone missed it. Anyone whose ever beached a boat can relive the panic while watching this one!

Dang Bill, that was long! Touche! All the while I was thinking, these guys are nuts pushing a 40 foot keeled sailboat by the transom off a beach with nothing else to tow them out and keep them from beaching again but a flippin' rubber raft. I'm not an engineer,,,but.... THERE ARE ENGINEERING PRINCIPALS AT WORK HERE PEOPLE! Then, I thought about what I would have done in that predicament. Hmmm... I would have probably been right there looking out to sea and picking my nose like the one dude.

All the more resin to fix up older Chrysler sailboats. Have a middy fine sailboat, with out spending the big bucks on a new boat.

We had to beach our C-22 once after the keel cable snapped and punched a hole in the trunk and 1/2 sunk her. Were able to have it towed up on a beach alongside the morning field at high tide. When the tide receded we made a temp repair of the hole, bailed about a ton of water out of the cabin. A combination of digging and kedging the mast got the keel free, cable replaced and raised. Then we just waited on the tide. She righted smartly and we did not even need a tow, the outboard started right.
darn I miss that boat!

I wonder how much that operation in the video cost?

Did you notice how many people were wearing life preservers during that mess?.....0, except the coast guard! (and it appeared that the pilot of the one coast guard vessel forgot his too). 1938, that's when men were men and boats were boats.

1938- That's when men were dying at an early age, and boats were splintering on the rocks. :D
