Plans for Independance Day?

Post by tgentry »

We're planning to spend the week at the boat. My slip has a great view of Racine's fireworks display, the rest of the time will be spent sailing or just messing about with boats, as we choose.

How about the rest of you?

We'll be aboard Destiny in Fishermans Bay, Lopez Island.
We'll be at anchor and watching fireworks shot over the bay!

I'll be at Hubbard Lake! :D Going up on Tuesday for a work/pleasure long weekend. If I have my way, we'll be at the dock watching fireworks around the lake on the 20 with a couple friends. Just got done painting the interior hull wall almond and looking for a nice piece of plush carpet for the v-berth. Not OEM, but practical. At least it doesn't look like the inside of a storage shed anymore (for now) We'll see, I haven't told SWMBO about this idea yet. She's going out w/ her secretary and other school admins on the boss's 25' stinkruiser tomorrow so I'll bring it up after that

I want a boat that drinks 6, eats 4, and sleeps 2.

I'm thinking about installing some carpet myself. We'll see.

The crew, Scurvy dog, and I are heading north out of Oconto Sunday morning for a week long cruise. Right now the plan is to hit Green island and Chambers island in the first couple of days and ending up in Nicolet bay. If the wind is in our favor we would like to make it back down to Sturgeon Bay for the 4th. We will be rafting up with a couple other sailboats offshore from a buddys cabin. He has a pontoon boat that has been rigged as a remote fireworks platform. Should be a pretty good time. From there if the weather holds we will head through the channel and out onto the big lake to round out the trip. All nights will be spent on the hook.
With light wind in the forcast, we are looking forward to getting the spinnaker up, as well as trying a couple of other head sails aside from the genoa we have been running.
