Possible re-powering C22

Post by Capt. Bondo »

I'm thinking of re-powering my C22 with a 1993 9.9 Yamaha Four Stroke XL shaft.
Anyone have any experiance with this motor, good or bad?

Other thoughts?

I'm sure I'll need to upgrade the motor mount...

It's the same motor I have on my boat only mine is a couple years older. Before I bought the boat it had been sitting for a couple of years but this thing fired right up and purred like a kitten. It will be my first time running a 4 stroke. From the research I have done on the internet and talking with the boats original owner it is one of the best motors out there. The only thing I don't like since I don't have a tiller on it, I have to pull the lanyard off everytime to shut it off. But if its a good deal I would go for it.

Adam, I had the same shut-off issue on a Suzuki 9.9. It had no tiller and no shut off button. I got a waterproof push button and installed it on the front of the cowl. Then I wired it where the lanyard switch connected.
