Mast step measurement

Post by Captainbtd »

Can someone measure on your C22 and share with me the height from the deck to the top of the mast step? Getting ready to rebuild mine and somehow misplaced the measurement I took before tearing out the old step. Bonehead move I know. Hoping to get the height on the new step close to original so the length of the stays isn't off by too much. Mine is a '77 but assuming the steps are the same height on other models as well?? Thanks in advance...

I asked this question back in February and received no answer. While I was in the middle of manufacturing one from pictures, I ended up finding mind. I will work on a drawing for you next week. Right now my mast is on it.

In the below link I have some length and width measurements from my rebuild. Hope it helps. I used 1/2" acrylic instead of wood to build up the inside structure. Any sign shop with a CNC router could cut them for you. If you need help let me know, I have such a sign shop.

Very nice rebuild. Good use of acrylics for strength

I guess I was not using the correct terms. On top of the step is a cast plate with a hook on it. I was looking for measurement of the plate/hook.When I was lowering last year a cable hook broke and it came down hard and snap the hook part off and into the water.

I don't have that hook anymore, but it was probably 1/8" thick aluminum plate. Since that's gone, just rebuild
your mast step and install a new hinge plate. You'll need to make some changes to the mast of course but well worth it in long run
