C22 Keel Bracket/Pin Kits for Sale

Hello everyone,


The kit includes the two brackets, pin, and pipe plug. They will need to be match drilled for your boat(The hole pattern on my boat was clearly done by hand. I was worried that it would be slightly different from boat to boat). These are well made brackets. They are made from 304 stainless steel, the pin is the standard 5/8" dia. and the bracket sides are made from 3/8" plate.

I have just joined the forum being the proud and excited new owner of a 1983 Wellcraft Starwind 22... I know this is a Chrysler 22 forum but from all I can tell the boats are virtually identical except for the rudder attachment and some cosmetics done to the back of the cabin. I was wondering if any one knows if the bracket and pins are still available for sale. the only thing that gives me pause about this 40 year old boat is the swing keel ... issues there could lead to a short wet sail.

Welcome aboard! The Starwind to my knowledge is a C22 clone with some minor changes as you noted. I haven't seen any brackets for sale postings in a long time. Most of us have had to build our own, or hire a machine shop. I made my own from stainless steel and did my own welding, etc. There are lots of drawings in the documents section. The original design was simple galvanized steel which unfortunately doesn't hold up well over time. What's the condition of the keel now?

from my initial observation the keel looked in fairly good shape . But I only looked from under the boat with a flashlight I bring the boat home this weekend and I will get a better look and explore keel trunk access points..( I did not know about at the time of the purchase) I am planning on replacing the Keel winch . The winch could go up just not down and it was winched in the up position . I do not have the skills to make my own keel bracket ... what do you think the cost to get one machined will be ?
