Securing adjustable rudder lines

Post by renfam »

How does one secure the two ropes that are used to adjust the position of the rudder on a C22? I have not seen any pictures and the lines are missing on my C22. Thanks

Hello Renfam..I hope I'm not being redundant here..If you are looking for how to replace the lines:

Go to the Chrysler site at:
http://chryslersailing.lizards.net/

Click on "how-to" at the left, then choose the article
"How to Repair Your Rudder Assembly"
Scroll down a bit and you'll see a link for "rudder up" and "rudder down" drawings..

From there they go up thru the post to the cockpit. I cleated mine at the tiller, but I also tied a dowel to the line at a point where if the cleat came loose and the rudder kicked up under motor, the the dowel would lodge across the post opening, and the rudder would stop coming up before it got into the prop....sort of a safety stop, I guess..
