thought I would reference this handy site somewhere on the board.... it is a very good pic by pic step/by/step how to on the upgrades they did to a catalina -22 but would has some value to us as well...

I found the detail of how they reinforced the catalina 22's crummy chainplates ( and you thought chrysler skimped in this area!) was novel and interesting ... I liked most of their other improvements as well but I found it interesting when they were drilling into the mast to make the halyards internal ( hey ... what is the advantage of internal halyards anyaway --- I am thinking of doing that to my c-26 but why?) they said not to worry about the holes in the mast since the forces would be compression forces.... I was not so sure about that ... but I did like the step-by-step solutions to a comprehensive plan to upgrade EVERYTHING on the boat -- even the interior, that is all very comparable to our chryslers.

That paint job sucks @ss, horrible and untasteful. The Catalina 22 refit, great read! Lots of nice info in there.

That c22 paint job gives the boat a mask appearance, kind of like batman.

I thought is kinda looked like a submarine with the "cove stripe" up so high.. like .."is that boat sinking?" or how did that blue cove stripe slide up so high... I think for a "racer" it might have some appeal since it does give it an unusual racing stripe look but personally it is not to my liking
