Topping lift.

Post by School's Out »

Newbie here. I am having trouble figuring out the topping lift on my C-26. I have 2 separate halyards that I think are the topping lift. There is a rope halyard that should lift the boom, but it also has a second line that is attached to the main line 10 inches from the top. This second line runs through a block so the main halyard lifts this second line as it lifts the end of the boom. What gives?

My C26 did not have a topping lift it has a block on the aftstay above the joint of the lower aftstay's. I made lazy jacks for mine as I am always sailing solo that when lowering the main the sail stays out of the cabin compaionway and on the boom to make for better flaking to cover the sail.
Catch the wind and ride the wave, Have fun
