Coaming boxes

One thing I envy from the Catalina 22 guys its the nice and big coaming boxes in the cockpit, would the ones from Catalina direct fit my C-22? I found some plastic ones (yuck) but they are 100 bucks a pop, anybody had any ideas?

I have the large coleman cooler with the 4 cup holders slid there ,fits perfect and doubles as a step. its also the same blue as the outer stripes on my boat

..and i'm sure that cooler makes a great cup holder within reach of the cockpit and out of the sun....

I have plenty of storages containers IN the cabin, coaming boxes are the boxes in the sides of the cockpit to store winch handles, sunglasses, camera, etc.

I made a step to get out of the cabin, sooner or later a plastic top on a cooler will give up.

we have several Catalina 22's at the club. I should be going over Wednesday, I'll get you width/height/depth measurements if that helps anwer the question.

Thunderstorms today, didn't get to boat. Will get the measurements tomorrow, hoping for a late afternoon sail after work.

Gus, on the Catalina 22's I looked at it seemed the boxes were molded in to the coaming at the factory. Did the measurements and they are 17.5 wide, 6 high and 7.5 deep.

I think I may add this to my project list, too. Having them sure would keep the cockpit neater.

I'm in the process of cleaning the boat, its amazing how much grime a boat can accumulate during 1 year outside in the elements. I'm almost done with the exterior (good thing I waxed the boat last year) and I have a bit to do in the port side. Amazingly, the interior was ok, just traces of a bit of water that probably got through the ports (they need to be reseal) Good thing I don't have a camera, the boat was super ugly.
