swing keel

Post by canoeman »

cable broke on my c-22 swing keel. can anyone tell me the size of the schackle and the size of the correct cable and length. i am also on a lake with no lift so i have to take it out and lift it up to drop the keel and reinstall. ugh, will be needing some insight on that also. thanks in advance. bob

I feel your pain, its happened to us and others here. Im not sure about the cable and shakle size we used about 8 feet of cable. If the keel is down you may have to get a line behind it and winch it up to get it on the trailer. You can wrap a line around both winches and take it up slowly alternating sides.

Some have actually done it underwater free diving, not for me.

If you know a diver it would be an easy fix in the water. I would be happy to volunteer if the distances were not quite so great. Let us know how it goes.
