it started by wet sanding a few marks out of the hull gel coat and enden doing the whole hull. It looks great about like a new boat, not to mention I'm sure it will move thru the water better.

If your boat is fairly chalky you will have to wet sand it prior to buffing/polishing. (make sure you keep it wet at all times) If you are just doing from the rub rail down you should be able to knock out even the worst job in a solid day....unless you are going to be happy with nothing short of perfect....

Ok, I had the PRO at the boatyard examine my topsides, he said they are fine, not chalky at all and in good shape just dirty and dull, he said to just wash it good , sold me marine "spray nine"cleaner , that is what they were using in the yard, and I did research on line and went to another boat yard and they said they use the one-step.. and polish...
went back to my boat and the pro refinisher there did sow me some pro tips on how to use the buffer and the 3M product, went at it did one side per day and it seemed to be shinier when I was done -- it was VERY dull, but not noticiable now that she is in her slip and nothing I could boast about on the forum, so maybe I have to do more... trying to avoid a paint job here but it may be inevitable. Yard pro said don't need paint and it should polish up nice....

C-26, Fixed Keel # 343
I wash the boat, and let it dry. Apply 3M polisher and let it dry. After that I just buff it. I usually do it once or twice a year.

gonna try and hit my topsides with spray 9 cleanner scrub it up and then go over it with the powerwasher, then try and polish the cockpit area.. maybe this weekend. inspired to also and and varnish my cabin ladder, tiller and hatch boards.... maybe hatch slider trim too... might get ambitious and order new "hatch slider teflon plastic" while I am at it.. I will do a search..

The main thing its to let the wax dry. The bottle says do a little bit, apply, do another bit, bla bla. I just wax the whole boat, let it dry, then I buff it by hand. I had one of those cheapo rotary buffers, but it took me forever. I can do the whole hull in a couple of hours.
