So, I finally got around to getting the boat over my house to work on her, I had stainless steel backing plates made for all of the deck hardware , removed all of the deck hardware , cleaned all of the existing through hull holes by using one size drill bit larger and then filled all of the holes with epoxy, this took all day. There were a few spots that the epoxy just socked in like a sponge...where it kept going is a mystery! The deck plates where the standing rigging (shrouds) were attached revealed a huge surprise, port side the holes were huge compared to the bolts and starboard side looks like the builder made an error and r-edrilled without ever fixing the first set of holes, just some caulk (which did not go through all of the way to the liner). the screws for the mast hinge plate almost came out with my fingers!, I believe that I will bed screw inserts and ditch the wood screws. My guess is that the whole block will soak up the epoxy like a sponge also!

The existing through hull hole was filled and will be re-drilled for the scan-strut, right now I needed a solid surface so I could actually drill a large hole! any suggestions on a good bit so i don't tare the edges and get a nice smooth large diam hole ? - pics to follow.
