Clymer or Seloc?
Or does anyone have a real Chrysler shop manual for Sailor 280 they'd like to part with?

Don't know about Seloc, but anytime I mention something in my Clymer to guru Franz he tells me to put it under a chair leg where it can do some good ! And it does have a lot of wrong or missing info in it from what I've seen. Really doesn't address the Sailor motors very well.
I'd drop him an email at
franzmarine@aol.com and see what he recommends of those two if either.

Thanks EE, I'll report back after I get a reply.
Is he also a good source for parts?

Yep, great for parts, and if he doesn't know it about a Chrysler outboard, you don't need to know it.
Tell him Beau said hello and that my Sailor 280 is running great these days.

I have Chrysler Outboard service manual for 9.6, 9.9, 10, 12.9 and 15 H. P. And I have Chrysler Outboard operator's manual for 7.5 & 12 H. P. And I have Chrysler outboard owners guide. But I Will Not Part With Them. That 280 is the best runing outboard I got, I intend to keep it that way

I'm getting an OEM Chrysler shop manual from Franz. In my experience of restoring old cars, the OEM manuals are ALWAYS the most complete and accurate manuals you can get.
Thanks again for the tip EE.

You're welcome. I need to pony up and buy an OEM too - but its so much fun looking at my Clymer, then looking at the motor and trying to figure out what it should really look like, and what I should really do !

I have a factory service manual that says its for the 9.9, 15, and 250 sailor. If this would work for any one I will be willing to part with it.
I am going to part out my 250 as it would cost more to repair than its worth.
