funny, so true, you can make up your own, there are sources on the web that will seel you the allum extrusion ( really the key item) they al lcome in peices for shipping) but then you need th drum and shackles and all sorts of bits ( that are not cheap and you would not want to buy cheap anyway, so that when all was said and done - -it was no bargain...

best source for a cheap roller furler... buy and old boat with one! I know... it is crazy but i am finding the same thing with my trailer search... old boat with trailer, roller furler and four stroke outboard -- $500 9 going begging) old trailer with no boat -- $2.500 and gone before you finish reading hte adv.! old roller furler with no boat -- 900 and gone before the seller finishes writing the adv. I concluded that for now, the amoutn of sailing I do does not justify the cost. and the boat is pretty old to boot.

Okay I just found a build your own Roller Furling for $40.00 in this issue of Small Craft Advisor Jul/Aug issue no. 58.

The article has pictures and writen instructions. The one he shows is not using a fore stay but he talks about how it could work. Honestly it is very slick looking they way he built it.

Thanks
Alan
