Good outcome, sounds like some good jurors - able to reason and had experience enough to understand the evidence, too.
One phrase cathes my eye also
"He lost his job at Verizon Wireless during the case because they wouldn't allow him a leave of absence. "
Sad to see that.

Lost job, in debt for legal fees...
And Perdock skips away clean. That's not justice in my book. Hopefully there will at least be some civil suits against Perdock.

That is a sad case all around. No real closure for the family that lost a member.
Not knowing all the facts, I totally agree with the verdict.
I also do not understand why the off duty sherrif was not charged. There was clear neglegence in my book.
Oh well.

TGentry is right.... that is the whole problem why completely innocent people go and cop a plea for a couple years in prison and a felony for something they did not do!
I think there should be fund for this sailor to sue the speedboat off-duty sheriff in civil court for a wrongful death and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Although I only know the press reports, let's see if there is any acountability.
