This is Knights marina Public boat ramp at the mouth of Black Creek just north of Green Cove Springs Florida on the St Johns river. You are looking pretty much due north and Black Creek is to the left and the St Johns is to the right. Notice how open it is to the northeast, a good 7+ miles to the opposite shore making it a little rough coming in during a noreaster. This was taken last weekend, the calm before the storm, as it was gusting 35 on the way back in, fortunately from the west.

Nice Photos, I just go to by brothers one mile away. My bigedt exspence to go sailing is the 10 galen of gas I use in a year. Alan what did it coust you to go sailing?

Well discounting what I spent on boat repairs/upgrades... I used maybe 12 gallons of gas $33.60, 2 cycle oil $12, Gas treatment $9, moorage was $170 a month, Insurance $180 a year, US Boat $180 a year, license tabs for the boat $50.00 I think.

So all totaled up 2009 sailing comes to a total of $2504.60 for the year. I figure I spent about 120 hour of actual sailing time so that comes out to $20.88 per hour.

Wow that was more then I had in mind.

Alan, $2504.60 would shorly take the wind out of my sails. I have Auto Oners Insurance on my house, an thay added my Mac. 25 for $26.oo a year. I have not had it in the water in two years. At my brothers I am the only boat, an when I go sailing I am the only boat in the bay. An if I have troble I call my sister-inlaw an she comes out to help. So I do not wory about insurence. I did spend $1750.00 for a boat slip in Au Gres, About a days sail from my brothers. (I own the slip) I will keep the Mac. 25 there What is better than a sail boat in the water ( two sail boats in the water) Au Gres is where sail bob 2 keeps his C-26, an my nabor has a Mac.26 there also. Being around outher boats, an a new place to sail should a fun time.
