OK, I know it is of no relevance here but hey, why not?

MY bride and I were out shoping at a local Thrift store for an old serial keyboard.
I needed one to recover data from an old computer. Who'd have thunk . . . .

Well, I was standing in line to pay my 3 dollars while my bride was still nosing around she squeeled "hey, look at this"!
I was next so I finished my purchase and walked over to where she was looking at a 20 volume set of books.
At closer inspection they are labeled "Master Pieces of World Literature". I was intrigued and started thumbing through them.
The description basically indicates they are master pieces from ancient and modern writtings. Seems to have a little of everything! I recongnize many items in the set.
Declarations of independence and various edits to it, poems from Edgar Alan Poe, writtings from Benjaman Franklin and Abraham Loncoln, and MANY things I don't recognize!
The books are complete, very nice condition with the exception of two books that are just 'OK'. The covers are marbled blue colors and the edges of the books are shiney gold color!

So we bought them!
You might ask why though .. . .

Well, they were printed in 1899!!!!

My Steven King collection just went by the wayside in lew of a very old set of books now on our shelf!!

When do you find time to read?
I'm lucky if I get through the sailing mags I get, on the bus to work.
Any other time I end up falling asleep.

Yeah, the books are pretty cool. The neat thing is the variety of stuff in them. All old of course but still fun!

They are layed out by author in alphabetical order. Just think of a famous author and look'em up! Suddenly you have all their most popular works right there! Now granted for long books, the entire book generally not there. Just key parts and pieces of the book. Pleanty to wett your appetite though! LOL! Any shorter works are there as originally written.

The set makes me think of an encyclopedia of authors. Instead of info about the author it provides the actual writings!

These are perfect for when you only have 1/2 or maybe 4 hours to sit quietly. Grab a volume, kick back, open a page and read something new!

Well, I'm kind of a geek too when it comes to very old things. I don't have many but what I do have, I really like!

Conference calls?!? you lucky b's. I've been having to attend "shudder" in person meetings, and plenty of them. Stupid BP, stupid oil.

shark...that is just too cool!!! I love old books and even reprints of old books! Tell ya whatcha do...send 'em to me here in Missouri and I'll review them for you on the train trip next month to Chicago then on to Zion, Ill.

As soon as I'm done reading them through and through, I'll send 'em off! LOL!

That may be a very long tome though!
