According to the title my HIN is CBC47924M78B.

I understand that the 78B refers to the fact that Believer was made in September of 1978. And the CBC part is Chrysler Boat Company.

Can somebody tell me what my hull number is? I have a hard time believing they made 47,924 C-22's.

My HID is CBC50029M78L, Happy Place was built 11 months after Believer and 2105 hulls later.

Doing rough math that would be a production run of over 20 years Thats still a lot of boats, when did the Chrysler 22 go into production?

I just don't think they started at #1

It's possible that the hull numbers reflect the entire line of Chrysler Marine boats as opposed to just each model.

It doesn't seem likely that there's a model number involved since no one's HIN have any matching numbers.


I'll drop an email to Dave Hurrikain over at the www.chryslercrew.com and see if he has any input.
He may know, or may be able to contact a factory guy that does.

How cool would it be to list all of our hull ID numbers to try and establish a Chrysler family tree so to speak!!

To my understanding the Chrysler sailboat line for all practical matters came to a stop with the 1970 and 1980 model run. Making the 1980 c26 I'm overhauling one of the babies of the family... CBC63328M80G

I spent the vast majority of yesterday scrubbing the moss, lichens, and assorted other detritus off of Cinderella. Don't get me wrong, she still needs work, but she looks a whole lot better than she used to. Pics to follow in a different thread.

Just now I was reading the owner's manual to learn how to rig her for sail. In there I saw a part that said Attaching Racing Numbers. It says that the racing number is the last four digits of the serial number. So I think I finally figured out my hull number! According to Chrysler if your first digit is a 0 then only the last three count as your racing number. In my case that would be 0811 or 811.

Isn't the sail racing number usually the number of your hull in a series? So my 1970 Lone Star 16 is actually the 811th one built. I think? 1970 is before the creation of mandatory HIN's (1972), so Chrysler's serial number is all that matters. Now if I could only figure out what the 21800 part stands for ...

Apparently not in the case of Chrysler - here's a quote form Avocet's page at

LOL, that figures. So the hull number is still a mystery.

The HIN stamp on my boat is:
CBC44411M76L

So that means it was made in July 1976?

There is also a metal plate rivited above the HIN that says:

I bought my C-22 in 2006 and it was on Lake Lewisville, TX, the closets lake to where the Chrysler factory was. It has the name "Evening Star" in script letters painted on the back. But a couple of years ago I was touching up the paint and noticed it had block letters under the blue paint, under the white name, and by tracing it out noticed that it had said "REVENGE". So at some point my boat got renamed.

I think re-naming is one of the FIRST things done to a recently acquired boat. Heck, I've re-named both of mine and neither one has touched water yet.
