I'm hopefully enduring the last snow storm of the season, I thought I would check out CNN Mailsail to give me some sailing news.
But this months show, just reminded me that winter can be fun also  8)

it is alot of fun especially when you have people ice fishing and you tack upwind and get on a beam reach and buzz them with a runner in the air.

Hey Lyle, does that mean you've ice sailed before?

If so, I may need an excuse to come visit ya! :)

sure have and you can do upward to 25 to 30 mph off a wind of ten.

the first time you get a runner in the air you could dirty your boxers if you are not careful but a beam reach is where you get the speed.

Just finishing up my "hardwater" season with my DN. some of the development class boats - "Skeeters" can top 100 mph! The DN's are 12 feet long and will hit 50 or so and are car-toppable. They're a blast to run!

I was watching some here on Muskegon Lake about a month ago. Screaming across the ice, sounding like rockets.

An old buddy of mine and I used to run the iced up streets on sleds and a sail made of two hockey sticks and a bedsheet. Couldn't see anything ahead of us as we were working for maximum speed! The thing you survived as a kid! But hey, you're only immortal for a limited time!

Guess this stuff's been in my blood for a while!

The ones I like ae the old stern steer and gaff rigged heavier and slower but a bunch of fun and steers like our boats.
