I took a quick amateur look and didn't see much wrong except a slighly cracked motor mount. I think I'm going to pass on it but I told the owner I'd mention it here.

According to google maps, that's right next to Plano Tx.

Nice - but the foredeck looks a little flat to be a 79 ?

With all the sails, sail cover and deck cover... unless something is amiss below I feel its worth the asking price even without a trailer. Why are all the good deals in TX... you are right E.E. the year most be off. I can only guess why it was passed up by lucky Jack?

Well I have my C22 project waiting for me in the backyard along with a small Victoria 18 in the garage so on consideration I decided I shouldn't push the first mate too far. :)

79 and 80 C-26 had a flat foredeck.

After the drop in front of the forehatch, yes..I should have said this one was flat from the mast all the way to the bow..

It's just one more... only kidding; our first mates should indeed be our first consideration in such matters. They do have the final word in rather or not we walk the plank! :)

Wow! $2000? I just emailed the seller. If I haven't heard back by tonight I'll give him a call. Hopefully I can go look at it this Saturday.

How can you tell the motor mount is cracked?
Anything else I should look out for on a Chrysler 26?

Edited: Oh, you're in Dallas! What lake is it on?

It being a C26, its a pretty good bet that the motor tray is cracked on one of the rear corners.. 8)

That's it exactly. Travis, the boat is at Collin Park Marina on Lake Lavon. The following thread had some advice on what to look for and maybe some others can chime in.

Does this mean your nice C22 might be up for sale?

If someone from this forum wasn't already trying to buy it I would myself, just because. Throw a $1,500 trailer under it and what a great deal!!
Hell, throw in an overnight road trip from Wisconsin and it's STILL a great deal!

Motor Mounts: I've rebuilt mine year before last, then tweeked it last year and I'm quite pleased with how it came out. (Well, I would have done things slightly differently to do it over again, but still pleased).

Let me know if you might want any photos.

Photos please... all of us C26 owners are looking for ideas to improve our ageing sailboats.

that deck looks like older or early 79 as i is different than mine and Terrence's. I am going on the pictures that I have seen on Jeff's Chrysler site.

I just noticed on http://chryslersailing.lizards.net/ that this boat (This Side Up) seems to have been owned by a Jerry Randall and it is a 78 not a 79 model.

It looks like he just reposted it, and reduced the price to $1,500:

Somebody in TX or near by is going to get a nice one... sometimes living on the coast has its draw backs.
