I spent most of Sunday with a very nice couple on Lady Jo enjoying 75 degrees, 10 kts of wind, 130 Genny, main and a very leisurly sail all over Possession Sound!

Nice afternoon!

This evening there was a FAT little bird sitting on the very top of the mast of ForPlay just singing away! Very nice!

I was out yesterday light wind just a leisurely sail no high speed wind and current in opposite directions I was out for about 3 hours. When I had the Newport I had a seagull that would sit on the boom and wait mostly when he saw my truck when I was sailing he would sit on top of the mast and never did a mess on my boat now he sits on a nav. aid next to my boat and waits it took him a while to put the truck and the 26 together we call him Henry he does leave when he hears the other Gulls making noise about food.

The passengers and crew of the HotDot are currently into their third week of cruising floridas west coast. We have a rough blog going at <lbelwood.blogspot.com> I have been posting from my Kindle so pictures and videos will have to wait until we return.in July. Today we are in Engelwood Beach enjoying some warm summer rain showers. I may have to take a nap... Oh the stress of cruising!

I finally got to sail my Getaway with the keel down in 15 mph wind and even with only the 170 genny she points well and I was walking away from my friend in his Bristol 26 fixed keel with his 130 genny and full main. My boat actually points much closer than the indicators on the windex.

Last weekend I was helping Brian get his C22 to the water. I'll let him tell his own story on a different post.

On Monday my wife and I seized the last chance we would have to go sailing until after the 4th. Forecast was for 10 to 15 from the NNW. It looked like we where in for a great afternoon sail. However the afternoon ending up being NW at 20 gusts to 30.
A single main with one reef pushed us along at about 5 kts without having to stand on the sides of the cockpit seats, and the slight change in wind direction let us sail from the high lines south to the RR bridge on a single tack (about 45 mins). That is a treat for a river sailer:D

Out Sunday evening, fishing with my girls. Ghosting along at just over 1mph, didn't catch anything.
Monday carburetor rebuild, runs like a top.
Tuesday, 18 to 22mph winds, gusts to 26mph, 4 to 7 ft. swells. Full main, 110 percent, hit 7.8mph a few times according to my GPS, probably could have hit 8 if I could get the motor completely out of the water. Only boat out on the lake as far as we could see.
Wednesday, out with my boss and a young co-worker. Light winds but we still managed something close to 4mph.
Thursday, out with three college students from Taiwan. Light winds and they wanted to fish. Dropped the hook about a half mile out and caught two beautiful channel cats.
I've logged just over 100 miles since the end of May on my short evening cruises. Made some new friends and spent time with my kids and grand kids but I still can't get the first mate out, maybe this weekend.

I plan to pull the tarp off the Maudie Kay and try to figure out where I left off.

I got out for the first time this year yesterday - finally. Capt. Bondo was a great help as he mentions, I'll put that in another post. Light winds 10 - 14 mpg, sunny, 98 degrees. It was lots of fun

7.8mph, that has to be a new "Off the trailer," speed record for a C-22. I know my boat has gone at least 45 mph... on the trailer... following Captain Scotts PU bumper... very closely... down the Highway. I'm thinking my top speed in the water was about 6 mph plus and I thought I was flying. That is very cool indeed.

And speaking of the weather you had that day. Is it not fantastic how well these boats handle in that kind of weather? I've been out once in weather like that and was amazed how well my little boat swam that day. Pretty as you please, like a little Coast Guard cutter bounding through the white caps.

That would be pretty good for a C22 but this was my Catalina 25.
