Topping lift photos for C-22

Hey all,
Looking for some help here, as I would like to add a topping lift to my C-22. Currently, Lucky has uses the backstay via a snap shackle. I know several people on here have backfitted their C-22s with topping lifts, but couldn't find photos of where and how they attached them on the mast.
Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, I'm hoping someone has already done the leg work and is willing to share.

I second this request. I have been meaning to add a topping lift too but haven't got around to it. It would be nice to have one while single handing. In never fails, I lock the tiller, run up to the mast to drop the main, then remember I hadn't hooked the boom up to the back stay. Run back, hook it up, then run forward to the mast. Then I notice that boat had turned away from the wind, run back to the tiller and start over. ha ha..

On the same note, has anyone used a Boomkicker? They seem look a good alternative but I have yet to see or use one.

The C&C 33 we use on Bayfield has a Boomkicker and it was nice on a boat that size.
I know it would not work on a C22 with a pop top so I never looked in to it

We ran a line through a small block at the top of the mast. Attach one end via shakle to the end of the boom, make it off on a cleat on the mast.

I do the same as FranS,
Only mine comes to the cabin top an a jam cleat so I can adjust it from the cockpit. Hooking the boom to the backstay with the main up always makes me nervous...

For a topping lift, I have a simple stainless cable ( about 2/3 the gauge of the stays ) running from the mast top to a carabiner type clip. Once I get the main up, I simply detach it and clip it to a ring on the mast. IIRC, it was about 25 1/2 feet long.

Callipygian is set up like that and its a short clip too- forgot to release it once, and it sure made me nervous until I figured it out..you'd be surprised how far and fast you'll heel with the boom stuck midship on a good stiff reach, lol.
EE's is not adjustable but is a line from the masthead to the boom end..forgetting it ruins the main shape a bit, but does let the boom swing fully..

Excellent Parared! I have 1/8" SS Line and swaging sleeves available, so at the end of sailing season, it looks like time for a mod!
