Funny!
That is the Whidby Island Race Week that we stumbled into when we went to Oak Harbor a week ago! I have some photos of the same Melges boats coming in on Friday night!

Funny!
Back when I took classes to learn to sail, they always had us practicing strange maneuvers, like sailing without a rudder, or center board, or no boom. They said it would teach us to handle any emergency situations and get good at improvising when a real emergency struck. Along with blow downs, man overboard, capsizing and putting it back upright and sailing on.
This is not one of the maneuvers we tried.
Thanks
Alan

Good speed. Maybe we've been doing this wrong all along... and, that's quite a spiniker pole they have.

I also had to note the extra blast needed on the nose of the boat to keep the stern up or it would have been shoveling not sailing.
Thanks

I LOVE that movie. And back before reality sank in I used to believe I wanted a nice 40' ketch also. But I'll never be able to afford the boat, much less the upkeep on it.
