25 Hp seems a bit much as I have a 15 and more than she ever needs.

Which raises the question. What is the OEM max rated hp for a C-26?

On my C-22 the Max hp is 10 hp.

Thanks
Alan

10-15 I would think at the time. My manual for the Sailor 280 rates it at 12.9hp, and that's the largest of the OEM motors they sold for the C26 as far as I know.

EDIT: 1977 specs page says Recommended Aux. Power: 8-hp. diesel Inboard; 6-10 hp. "Sailor" outboards

Mine is a 1980 C-26 and on the Chrysler site they have the owners manual for the 1979 and the sales info and they say sailor 6 or sailor 10. My boat went ok with the 4hp 4 stroke Johnson on it but if I had to buck the tide and a strong wind it was under powered.

Capacity plate on 1978 model says 15 Hp. Only once has my 9.8 been overwhelmed

If you have ever gone thru "Cowboy Alley" there in Ft. Lauderdal you would understand the 25hp

Any motor is better than No motor.
Chances are that is just a outboard the seller had they threw on the boat to add selling value.
