Been there bro. There have been instances of intoxicated keystone cops on my vessel for sure.

Believe it or not, I actually had only one beer while out there. Hubbard Lk is well patrolled, esp on holiday weekends. It was the first time on a big lake... and with a brisk breeze. Even with all that breeze though, the boat never once felt out of control (until I tried to do a unscheduled docking maneuver that is, then all heck broke loose!). I kept the genoa a bit slack and let the main out a couple times when she'd hit a 20 degree incline. She's an amazingly stable boat (my Daysailer on the other hand would have definitely been in the drink).

This year on my 'underway' todo list is reefing the sails and practicing some MOB drills at Stony Creek. I believe she would have sailed much better with reefed sails and with less strain on the rigging. I'll do better next time, esp on the safety issues!

I completely understand. There are a few treacherous impediments where I currently sail; but none of them involve rocks!

Thanks Bob, and you're right about that! What a riot once we got things underway. The commotion at the beginning of the vid was my nephew grabbing the boom so I could hook up the forgotten main sheet....doh! Even with all the errors made, this was by far the best sail I've ever experienced! I hope to do this again but with reefed sails, PFD's and a better launch/docking plan.
