I have a question for C-26 owners. What kind for fuel tank do you have , is it the original or has it been replaced with a newer one? If it has been replace do you know the brand name of it? How long, wide and high is the fuel tank? I have the original 6 gallon metal fuel tank, and I need to replace it with a new one

Attwood 6 gal plastic from happyfacerollbackstore..fits in there but you have to be a bit creative to tuck it in the hatch..

EE came with that type and there was no bracket . Rubber strap. Might do a dry run on putting it in empty before loaded. You sort have to put one corner in and down then work the rest in. Not too hard but there's a trick to it!!

Mine did not have a tank or and engine when I got it and you do not want to put it in full.

In your case, your marina dose not allow you to take gas to your boat. Why don't you get two 3 gal. tanks.

I still have the original Chrysler tank so, I'm no help there. The boat came with nothing holding the tank in place. I installed a hold down kit from (I think) that same store mentioned earlier.

Was there today and the shape of the tank has changed since last time. looks shorter and taller now, you might want to double check the lazarette height.. And it was almost $50 as opposed to $35 online.

Looks like the Moeller 6 gal is more the same shape as my old Attwood 6 gal.

Thanks Bob, your new tank should fix the condensation problem.

How many hours of operation do you get with the 6 gallon?

Also, what fuel grade do you use ? regular or plus ( I have a four stroke...)

I was going with a 3 gallon since I thought I had enough weight on the stern, the Four stroke, the battery , the gas, the passengers.. etc... I saw in the forum some guy rigged a flexible gas tank in the v berth with a electric pump... but i worried that was way too dangerous for gasoline...

august is coming. not much wind and was thinking about my motoring range... also, looks like that new attwood tank does not have a vent ! and I also worry.. I have some bolts coming through the transom that might chafe through the plastic...

When I get to the point of doing a fuel system I will mount a 12 gallon tank under the cockpit. I have used this system on one of my Ventures for 10 years and it works well. I use a combination fill, vent cap mounted on the stb. combing. No fumes in the cockpit or cabin and one fill lasts the summer.

You shouldn't be filling portable tanks on board.

I had a problem getting EE to start when I replaced mine with an Attwood. Turned out the existing quick connect at the tank end of the hose wasn't the right fit for the fitting on the tank. I replaced it with a screw in fitting and it was fine after that..I do have to take the fuel line with me to fill up off board, but its not that big a deal..

I bought a Moeller "Scepter" 6.6 Gal. (US) tank off from Amazon just three weeks ago for $41.00 delivered. This slightly larger tank fits the stbd. lazaret perfectly. But now kit seems that model isn't available, and the new model is only 6.0 gal and it's a lot more money. It looks to be the same basic size, and it does have a built-in out valve which mine doesn't have.
