Went sailing last night . . . . . .

Caught up with an old high school buddy of mine.
You know the one, when I was in trouble, he generally was there sitting with me in the same trouble! LOL!
We basically grew up together sailing on Sunfish sailboats and when I upgraded to a Chrysler Dagger he sailed it almost as much as I did!
Last night was the first time in probably 25+ years we sailed together!
We left the dock in Destiny with a NOAA promise of 10kts of a North wind.
Yeah right. It was flat calm. We motored out into the sound, shut off the engine and chatted remembering the good ole days! At the same time we noticed a very gentle breeze at our backs! Yeah! 2 kts! Just enough to give Destinys sails some shape! So out came the main and then the jib. We ghosted along at 0.2 kts for a while with otto continously complaining. It is hard for an autopilot to steer in near calm winds!
As the day grew longer the wind slowly built . . . .3kts . . . . 4.2 . . . 4.6 . . . . .
Finally,
As we made our final tack and headed back the winds were blowing 18, Destiny was in her groove and we were making a steady 6.7 kts in a tight reach for a good ride home! We enjoyed a wonderful sail with 1 foot or less seas, warm sunshine, and great rekindled friendship!
As the sun went down, we slid Destiny into her slip, tied her up, and headed to the local brewery for some dinner and more chatting!
All and all a very fine afternoon!
