Come on guys be truthful.... how many of us have gone so far as to sand, prime and paint the storage section of our settees?

This is all in fun guys... don't feel slighted in any way if your storage section has not been painted. The only real reason I painted my was out of necessity... this C26 was nasty from top to bottom when it came to me, as you can see in the photo. A smart guy would have passed this one by... not to point a finger at myself, but facts are facts.
Bill, the two spots you are referring to were done by a PO. For some reason they wanted more air flow in this section, I've just removed the covers for the time being.
Bob. our C26s most have come out of the same factory they are practically identical right down to the same color and style of the upper strip below your numbers.
Thanks to all for saying it looks good... not that, that was the point, but being the vain person that I am... I'll take it. (LOL)

Okay, yea, I've refinished the OEM wood covers. I sanded them down good and gave them like 4 coats of a clear water proof stuff I bought maybe 10 years ago before I even owned a boat. So they look original but they are truly water proof. I used the stuff on the wood bits of diving gear I made. I don't thinks it's available any more and I don't remember what it was called.
Now refinishing the inside of the settee, I love it! That's going on my to do list. Any hints on application and products to use to get that nice finish Terrence? Also is that insulation or sound dampeners in the aft compartment?
Clearly I have been neglecting my Chrysler Sail Boat obsession in the last year. Oh pardon, I mean my "Tightly Focused" nature on Chrysler Sail Boats.
Thanks
Alan

The finish is just the outcome of a lot of sanding, two coats of primer and two coats of topside paint. If you are referring to the photo in my last post about insulation or dampeners, it is only two or three coats of old paint covered by layers of old nasty mold. This section looks a bit better now days.

Nope wrong photo. Love the before and after of the v-berth area though.
No I mean the Settee area. It looks like the forward one has a grey paint inside and the aft one has a silver sound dampener or insulation blanket or some such device. Looks like maybe you cut out speaker holes in the front of the settee. That is the area I'm asking about. What process did you use there? Hmmm lots of sanding, 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of top sider?
Thanks
Alan

Looks like a sheet of glass to me, Alan. Not finished or fared and no gelcoat due to the location.

I sent Alan a pm telling him what it was, but seeing that others may want to know... here it is my top secret process. The two sections of the settee are the same, the aft section was getting a lot of direct sun light at the time of the photo. What you are seeing is the weave of the fiberglass.

Terrence, your boat is looking great! Every time you open that storage bin now, you're going to get a little extra rush, and that's what it's all about. Hope you get your sailing time in this year, you've earned it!
