What Do Groundhogs Have to Do with Sailing?

Post by cs3079 »

I'm a northerner ... and a sailing nut: Last years season started amazingly on Mar 19th. A beautiful eighty four degree day. Thinking back, I had to get rid of a groundhog about six weeks prior that had been digging around my house. Hmmmm, I'm not normally a superstitious kind of guy. I don't hate groundhogs, actually cute little furry things. I love to see them playing in the neighbors yard.

If it looks like it's going to be sunny on Feb 2, here's my plan to hedge against a late start.

Looking forward to beginning the season in March once again!

I too had a ground hog that made his home behind my house. Last summer my son decided to remove it (permanently.) Maybe this is his revenge from above.

Bruce, I watched your video and remember what they taught us in sailing school: "ONE HAND FOR THE BOAT- ONE HAND FOR THE BEER". I know it was something like that.

What do groundhogs have to do with sailing ? Not much. They make lousy anchors even if you can get them to sink. And they're pretty chewy when grilled off the stern pulpit so no good there either. 8)

Hope you guys get some relief soon up there..

Nice video and it is always good to put a face to a name!

Today you ask? First day of spring and last winter storm.
Raining hard now and will be blowing hard later today!

Bruce, thanks for the video, helped the sailing withdrawls.
...let me find the link to the beverage holders I use. I have had the boat heeled to 35 degrees and never spilled a drop 8)

Thank you Bruce for the video, but I would rather be sailing. Time for winter to be over.

+1 on the Punxutawney Phil capital case Bob! That rat! On the upswing, upper 40's predicted for next weekend. Time to get going on the DS2 to do list!

Freeze warning tonight here just a couple hours north of the Gulf Of Mexico. Apparently the winter Brandy bottle ran out before the winter did..going outside now to drag in the pineapple plant I had just put outside Friday.
