Replacing Rudder "Lower" Line
Posted: Tue Aug 26, 2014 6:32 pm
This summer, we purchased a 1976 Chrysler C22. She is showing her age, but we've had a great time learning to sail.
Until the rudder down rope snapped in half.
I did a little swimming, and I was able to locate the hole on the top of the rudder blade. Thanks to whoever posted this diagram: http://chryslersailing.lizards.net/imag ... r_post.gif
And this one:

Maybe this is a very simple thing, but I can't seem to figure out how to attach the rope. I could shove the rope in the hole, but I suspect that there's a way to tie a knot or something?
Can I fix this in the water? I'm not ready to haul her out yet--summer is too short here in Michigan.
Thanks in advance for your help!
