Winches on the Chrysler 22

Post by Gus »

Which way do the winches turn in the 22? Both my winches (I have yet to install) turn clockwise, but by looking at the position of the cam cleats on deck, one needs to turn clockwise (port) and the starboard side needs to turn counter-clockwise?
I'm clueless.

All winches turn clockwise when viewed from the top.

Sorry I can't be more of assistance, but some pics would help.

I'll try to post a picture tomorrow of the cam cleats on deck. I want to belive that the position are from factory, but since this boat came without winches, I don't know.
Thanks!

nevermind... I found donbohio's online album, and one of the last pictures shows the starboard side winch with the jib sheet. I guess that's the way it goes, I'll be installing the winches soon :D

My C-22 winches/cleats are exactly like Gus'. That must be the way that they came from the factory. A previous owner must not have liked the way that the line crossed itself on the starboard side, so a cam cleat was installed outboard of the stock cleat.
